EA governments must rein in on corrupt officials

Darius Kabonge
Monday, 6 September 2010

EDITOR––It seems to me that up till now, our governments do not seem to realise how much corruption has impeded developement in the region!

In handling corruption, not many have been put behind bars stripped of their offices and inshort disgraced enough to give warning signs to future criminals!

In Kenya, the case in which inflated land worth Ksh24 million to Ksh283 million still drags on while the culprits run around free.

In Tanzania, civil servants , and Members of Parliament involved in corruption scandals remain in force until their ‘cases’ were determined one way or another.

If ‘acquitted’ as alleged, they are reinstated in office, and paid their withheld emoluments as well as their arrears.

We must reign in on corrupt fellows for such have ruined our nations.
