Professional Accountants reach 3119

KAMPALA, UGANDA- The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) is striding slowly to hitting the 5000 Professional Accountants mark by 2020.

The Institute has added 104 candidates who completed the November 2017 CPA course to have the number of professional accountants throughout the country at 3,119.

Uthman Mayanja, the Public Accountants Examinations Board Chairman said during the release of the November 2017 CPA results at Imperial Royale Hotel that they noted that many candidates had challenges with numerical subjects.

“Additionally, some candidates are unable to analyze issues and provide practical solutions. Critical thinking is a key requirement for professional examinations,” said Mayanja.

He recommended that it’s an area, students and tuition providers must address.

Protasio Begumisa the President of the ICPAU said they have noted an increase in the number of young people taking up the profession CPA course.
