KIGALI RWANDA - This Christmas, Rwanda telecom companies have come up with different promotions in what market players say the move is to keep their customers and attract new ones on their net works.
Tigo has unveiled a US$55,000 Fortuner Car while MTN has subsidized on net calls by 70% this Christmas. The oldest mobile telecom company has also maintained a bonus of 20% on airtime.
Rwandatel, however, dedicated the whole of last week to their customers and maintained the Rwf3 per minute on net call tariff. By dedicating a week to customers, management of the company says they have joined government governments' efforts in improving customer care.
However, some members of the public say telecom companies are giving back to their customers due to the growing competitions in the industry.
"It is good to give back to customers," Sandra Idossou," a customer care consultant in Rwanda said, "Every telecom operator has its best services that cannot be rated to the other," Idossou.
Rwandatel says it is in recognition of customer loyalty to their brand and the telecom company has dedicated each day to a different product or services that it offers.
This includes fixed (Landlines, Fixed Wireless Terminals), GSM, Data and Internet Day. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Issiaka Maiga Hamidou, Rwandatel's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said the event is a celebration of the good relationship the company has had with its customers.
"We hope customers will ask as many questions as they would like so they can get to learn about our products and services in detail as this week is simply dedicated to them," Hamidou said.
The CEO also said customers will have the opportunity to meet more Rwandatel managers and staff to discuss with them how to serve them better. |
