Magical treasures of Bahari Pori resort
TANGA, Tanzania - If the soft sounds of birds chirping, a light breeze on the beachfront; the thrill of living in unspoiled nature does little to convince then enjoy the primordial sunrise and sunset. This is what you have been day dreaming about. Come visit the Bahari Pori resort in Pangani.
Located along the road from Tanga to Pangani on the northern shores of the Indian Ocean, Bahari Pori Resort is a traveller’s choice. A chance to sample an unpretentious lifestyle, all that comes with an unpolluted village setting.
The afternoon we arrived, it was comparatively quiet. The paradox of life in this area is the fact that in this terrain, you can have a cold drink, relax in a cool room with a local banda setting and gorge yourself with excellent dishes made from local fresh ingredients and as well as wood-fired pizzas, baked in a wood burning oven.
I joined a group of tourism enthusiasts travelling to the area driving from Tanga; nearly 40 kms away. We relished the glimpse of breathtaking landscapes and spectacular views of sprawling vegetation with hundred of acres of sisal estates and coconut plantations. A foretaste of the spectacle of travelling to the coastline to soak up with the sound of the sea waves and the mangrove forest providing the background.
The resort is close to a 20 km, sandy beach, studded with mangroves. There is also a parking bay for vehicles. To add beauty to this fascinating landscape, the backyard has a swimming pool blended with the little greener
There’s plenty of natural lighting just like the natural shades from the few trees in the entire space of the resort. The architecture of the bandas is of luxury tented huts with all amenities including solar power.
The resort boasts of self contained and spacious bandas, fabulous interior and a high-end Italian dishes sizzled with the local ingredients. A few palm strands act as the roof to allow free flow of air accompanied by the ceiling fans.
The resort is the latest to join a number of high-end accommodation facilities cherished by tourists and nature enthusiasts.
“There is an ever increasing demand for rooms in Pangani and we are offering affordable, international standards,” said director, Nino Tragni.
Nino is positive the location of the property as well as the demand for decent beds and relaxation under the shadow of the impressive baobab of the resortwill keep it busy.
Evening is the time for those staying in the resort to come together, after a day of exploration through the different attractions around. . The main dining area near the kitchen is open-air overlooking the backyard of the resort.
I adore the warm, inviting and intimate feel of the dining area. Dinner time here is a whole new experience, served from 7:00pm. Those with special dietary needs are well taken care of. The great thing about this place is that there’s no hurry. You will not be rushed off the table to give way to new diners. The staff is fantastic and knowledgeable, and James the manager was wonderful and gave us all the attention, making our tour one of the most enjoyable and memorable.
