The event, the first of its kind in Kampala, attracted more than 8000 people and it had lots to show including 19 long films, 16 short films, 2 documentaries and 7 youth films from eleven different countries from Europe and Africa.
The European movies presented a real portrait of contemporary Europe highlighting the challenges, the western culture and achievements. The African productions broke many preconceived ideas about the many different ways of life and traditions in the continent. Different traditions and ways of life coming to life and being influenced that the changes in the globe.
The festival was jointly organized by a Delegation of the European Union to Uganda, Embassies and Cultural Institutes of the EU Member States in Kampala, Maisha Films Lab and Garage Films.
The on-going show casing of youth films is open to school children and is being co financed by the European Union (through the EU-ACP Culture+ Programme). Considering the high response of the Kampala dwellers and the youth, it is more than a demand to see the Festival repeated in the future.
