Flydubai starts regional flights in October

ON THE WAY: As of September 2014, Flydubai serves a total of 83 destinations


DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania - Dubai based low-cost airline, flydubai is introducing flights to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro starting October.

The airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith told East African Business Week, “With the addition of these three new destinations in Tanzania we have doubled our network in North and East Africa this year, strengthening our commitment to serving previously underserved markets,” he said.

This will be a good news to the country’s hospitality industry as the availability of flydubai is expected to increase flight connections to Tanzania as well as East Africa as a whole.

Ghaith said that flydubai recently announced the launch of flights to Bujumbura in Burundi, Entebbe in Uganda and Kigali in Rwanda and flights to these destinations will commence at the end of September.

Tanzania is rich in tourist attractions specifically in the northern tourist circuit whereby Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa are situated.

With regard to historical sites, Zanzibar’s Stone Town and Bagamoyo’s Kaole ruins become the most attractive and most tourists from Europe and United Arab Emirates.

The airline said Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro join flydubai’s East African network.

On February 13th, 2013, flydubai announced that it was in talks with Boeing and Airbus for a 50-plane order. Flights to Tanzania will continue the airline’s network in Africa to 12 destinations.
