Spedag Interfreight, a logistics company operating in East Africa, has unveiled a new real-time tracking system that will help their clients monitor movement of their cargo.
The new system allows the tracking of cargo along its journey by sea, rail and roads from or to any seaport on the globe to any location in East Africa.
Addressing the media at Sspedag Interfreight offices in Kampala last week, Dilip Bhandari the CEO Spedag Interfreight Group in charge of East Africa, said the new system will especially help the logistic company lower the cost of operation.
“The new technology will create good working relationship between the logistics company and our clients. On many occasions, our clients have been spending money in form of airtime to inquire about their cargo but with the new technology, our clients will be using their smartphones to track their cargo,” he explained.
The New tracking system code named ‘Perispooor’ was developed by Periplus, a Swiss Startup company which has been instrumental in developing ICT solutions for logistics companies worldwide.
Spedag Interfreight chairman and founder Daniel Richner urged their clients in Eastern Africa to embrace the new Innovation.
During the same occasion, the logistic company also unveiled their plan to expand to other African countries such as Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi. The decision to enter such markets is attributed to the existing opportunities available to the company.
“We need these primary commercial presences to serve our esteemed customers in their respective industries and country of operations whether it is in energy and Infrastructure on one side or aid and relief supply on their other side,” he explained
