Govt should inspect housing standards

Editor--With current natural disasters like earth quakes, one cannot be too careful.
Given that we sometimes of put up buildings with the absolute disregard to basic engineering standards we have had several buildings collapsing on their own.
In 2010 a storied house collapsed in Kiambu killing over a dozen people. Earlier in 2006 another storied building in Nairobi's Nyamakima collapsed while undergoing construction killing yet another group of over a dozen people.
These disasters in Kenya however were not triggered by earthquakes or any major earth movements. Often, authorities donot take keen interest in the building sector be it roads or houses.
if ever there wasa a time that we should take any and all preventive measures for our country, now is the time.
