KAMPALA, Uganda - A report on the ills that beset the country’s Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control is now with the internal affairs minister.

The report that was handed over to Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, is looking at the high levels of corruption, mismanagement and incompetence by some top immigration officers leading to issuance of Ugandan citizenship documents like passports to foreigners. It also divulges into the issues of giving diplomatic passports to non-diplomats.

“It is an Inquiry into allegations of Corruption, Mismanagement and Abuse of Office in the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, following the huge public outcry about service delivery in the Directorate of Immigration,” Nyakairima said.  The ministry is also spearheading the National Identity Card registration project.
