AAR gets new boss

NZAU: He will be charged with overall leadership.

NAIROBI, Kenya - AAR Holdings Limited, the regional healthcare and medical insurance firm, has a new boss.

Geoffrey Nzau was appointed as the new Group Chief Executive Officer to head the insurance business of the AAR Group with effect from May 1st, 2014.

This follows a board decision to separate the Insurance Business from the Healthcare delivery business to comply with regulatory requirements.

Meanwhile, Jagi Gakunju, the former Group Chief Executive Officer has retired after 22 years of service. with effect from June 30th, 2014. Jagi Gakunju joined AAR in 1992 as Sales and Marketing Manager moving through the ranks in various senior management positions.

Nzau will be charged with overall leadership of the AAR Insurance Holdings limited which has operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. Mark Achola continues to head the Healthcare delivery business as the Managing Director, AAR Healthcare Holdings Limited.

Nzau’s appointment is part of the transaction in which Afrocentric Health Solutions insured all its business with AAR Insurance Kenya and merged its businesses in Uganda and Zambia. Gakunju was responsible for the restructuring the firm between 2004 and 2006.
