Germany, EAC cooperation for review next year

ARUSHA, TANZANIA-Director of East Africa Division at the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development Dr. Ralf-Matthias has said that his government will continue to provide support to the East African Community (EAC).
"We are ready to continue and deepen cooperation with the EAC and we are to review the development cooperation programmes in the second half the year 2012, he said during a meeting with the EAC Secretary General Ambassador Dr. Richard Sezibera recently. Dr. Ralf-Matthias Mohs informed the EAC about the new priorities of the German Government on result and impact orientation as well as cooperation with the private sector, both being important issues for the forthcoming High Level Forum for Aid Effectiveness (HLF IV), in Busan, South Korea in November 2011.  The German government is supporting several EAC projects including the funding of the construction of the the EAC headquarters' building; support to the regional economic integration process; The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and Regional Quality Infrastructure, EAC-GIZ Peace and Security Programme, Capacity Building for the EAC Integration Process, Organizational Development, Supporting the implementation of the Common Market in the EAC, Promotion of Tax Harmonization in the EAC.
