ARUSHA, TANZANIA-Ministers responsible for the East African Community (EAC) Affairs and planning from the partner states last week held a session on the formula for the introduction and implementation of the quota system in staff recruitment in the organs and institutions of the Community.
A statement issued by the EAC publicist Richard Owora said that the community is premised on the principle that citizens from all partner states shall enjoy the same rights to employment opportunities accruing from the integration process. "However, development of enabling policies to operationalize this principle requires that partner states through the council of Ministers formulate, implement and periodically review Community policies to reflect equitable representation in employment across all Organs and Institutions of the Community," he said in a statement issued last week after opening the meeting held on Zanzibar island.
He said that measures to ensure that all citizens of the Community have access to the available job opportunities shall be the cardinal principle underlying the methods and procedures of recruitment at the Community.
