A retired member who receives monthly benefits is encouraged to contribute 7.5 % to get health insurance. The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) contributes a similar amount.
Beneficiaries dont contribute directly because the board deducts 7.5 % from their monthly benefits.
When workers retire, they cease to benefit from their employer’s medical insurance, which sounds like neglect. Meanwhile, some retired workers have criticised it saying that 7.5% deduction is too high and it should be lowered.
