Tigo launches HIV workplace policy

Recently,Tigo Rwanda launched an HIV/AIDS policy that promotes awareness amongst its employees and partners, while providing and encouraging HIV testing, treatment, care and support at the work place.
The programme that was launched in partnership with the Swedish Workplace HIV/AIDS Programme (SWAHAP) aims at contributing to the private sector response to HIV/AIDS by supporting Swedish linked companies to establish and implement effective Programs for HIV/AIDS.
The programme launched at Karisimbi restaurant, Kacyiru was presided over by Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, the Director of HIV Division at Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), in Kigali.
A UNICEF report (2009) indicates that HIV prevalence in Rwanda stands at 2.9%.
